Springfield Star U15s 4  Northend United U15s 0                                                                      Saturday 23rd October 2010

Northend started off the match in a determined fashion but soon found themselves a goal down after five minutes when a free kick from all off twenty yards rocketed into the Northend net, deceiving keeper Dylan Little along the way.
This goal gave Springfield a lot of encouragement and they went further ahead when they won a penalty for a offence that occurred outside the box. However the referee awarded a penalty and their striker made no mistake to put Springfield 2-0 ahead.
Northend came back at Springfield Star and Conan Dunne and Lee Kirk both had chances to bring Northend into the game but both chances resulted in shots going narrowly wide.

Northend came out for the second half and their midfield of Simon Cunningham, Rory Kinney, Lee Kirk and Mark Robinson began to dictate play and Ciaran Ferris should have reduced the score only to see his shot go narrowly wide.
Northend continued to take the game to Springfield Star but couldn't find a way past their defence and from a breakaway, Springfield scored the killer third goal mid way through the second half, when a defensive mix up in the Northend defence allowed the Springfield striker the easiest of chances to score.
Northend were unlucky not to score when Brendan Lynas caused the keeper to make a good save. Springfield began to sit back and lob the long ball up the field. On one occasion they caught out the Northend defence and scored their fourth goal with only minutes of the match remaining.
The final score remained 4-0 to a very good Springfield Star side, although the scoreline somehow flatters the opponents.

Northend United U15s 3  SOPFC U15s 1                                                                       Saturday 16th October 2010

Northend stated off this match in confident mood after having strung together some excellent results over the last few weeks.
The Northend midfield of Brendan Lynas, Ryan Douds, S Cunningham and Lee Kirk began to dictate play, providing chances for Conan Dunne and Ciaran Ferris in the Northend strike force.
Northend had a few chances to take the lead but had to wait until the twenty minutes when Brendan Lynas picked up a pass in his own half. He turned his defender, glided past two other defenders before racing clear of the Plunkett defence and slotting the ball beyond the reach of the keeper to make the score 1-0 to Northend.
Northend again had chances to extend their lead but the score remained 1-0 to Northend at the break.

The second half started with Plunkett's on the offensive but the Northend defence, superbly marshalled by Declan McAfee, held firm again Plunkett's strikers.
Northend extended their lead after fifteen minutes of the second half when after some good exchange play between Rory Kinney and Conan Dunne; Ciaran Ferris was on hand to beat the keeper with a rasping shot.
Northend continued to dictate play at this stage of the match and Lee Kirk scored his first goal for Northend when he picked up a pass on Northend's left wing, cut inside of his marker and looped the ball over the keeper's head to make the score 3-0 to Northend with ten minutes of the match remaining.
Northend made a few substitutions after this goal and continued to take the game to Plunkett's. However with almost the last kick of the game, a defensive lapse let in the Plunkett striker to beat Dylan Little in the Northend net, to leave the final whistle 3-1 to Northend

Aquinas U15s 3  Northend United U15s 0                                                                       Saturday 2nd October 2010

Northend came up against one of the title favourites, Aquinas, in confident mood, having recently strung together a few good wins.
The game started flowing from end to end, with Northend playing strongly in the opening twenty minutes. Ciaran Ferris should have given Northend the lead only for the Aquinas keeper pulling off a great save.
Benny Lynas was unlucky again when his shot was expertly saved by the Aquinas keeper. The Northend management team of Sayers and McAfee knew that it could be one of those days when you rue wasted early chances.
However Aquinas came back at Northend, but the defence of Ryan Douds, Lee Kirk, Declan McAfee and Matthew Kirk held firm against their strikers. Dylan Little in the Northend net was in inspirational form, keeping Aquinas from scoring.
However with five minutes of the first half remaining, Aquinas won a corner. From the resultant kick, Aquinas opened their scoring when the ball was not cleared by the Northend defence, leaving the half time score 1-0 to Aquinas.

The second half started off in much the same way as the first with play flowing from end to end. Aquinas scored their second goal after ten minutes when another mistake in the Northend defence allowed their striker in to beat Little in goals.
Aquinas, now full of confidence, kept attacking Northend at this stage but found Dylan Little hard to beat in the Northend net.
Rory Kinney and Conan Dunne came close with a few chances before Aquinas completed their scoring right on full time to leave the score 3-0 to Aquinas, in a match where Northend deserved a share of the points had it not been for some sloppy defending.

Red Star U15s 2  Northend United U15s 3                                                                                    Saturday 25th September 2010

For the second week in a row Northend fielded the same side and it showed in a riveting match, that flowed from end to end and Northend came out the eventual winners.
Again missing regular defender Jaffa Douds due to a late Friday night session, Northend got off to a flying start when they scored on two minutes. From a pass, Aidan Hughes was on hand to drill the ball into the box and deceive the keeper to make the score 1-0.
This goal gave Northend a lot of encouragement and they began to dominate play. The midfield of Brendan Lynas, Rory Kinney, Simon Cunningham and Conan Dunne began to dictate play, creating opportunities for their strikers. It was from a midfield through ball that Ciaran Ferris doubled Northend's lead, when he coolly beat the keeper with his shot.
Northend were now playing some excellent passing football and were unlucky not to go further in the lead in a riveting first half.
Just as half time was approaching, an uncharacteristic mistake in the Northend rearguard let in the Red Star striker to score past keeper Dylan Little to leave the half time score 2-1 to Northend.

Northend again started the second half with all guns blazing and from a Lee Kirk corner on three minutes, Aidan Hughes headed home at the back post to beat the keeper and restore Northend's two goal lead.
Northend continued to dominate play at this stage and could have gone further ahead when Ciaran Ferris had a goal bound shot cleared off the line.
Northend were coasting at this stage but from a long ball, a defensive mix up between Dylan Little and Lee Kirk left the Red Star striker with the easiest of chances to score to make the score 3-2 to Northend.
Play continued to flow from end to end for the remaining ten minutes of the match but with no further scoring; Northend recorded another victory, again with some pleasing passing play.

Ulidia U15s 1  Northend United U15s 7                                                                                             Saturday 18th September 2010

For the first time this season, Northend fielded a full strength side and it showed in a riveting match, where Northend dominated from start to finish.
Northend scored on six minutes when Mark Robinson was on hand to finish. Northend continued to dominate play in midfield and Ciaran Ferris, who was having a good game, put Northend further ahead with two goals in quick succession to leave the score 3-0 to Northend.
It was Northend at this stage of the match and with the midfield of Brendan Lynas, Simon Cunningham, Rory Kinney and Conan Dunne pulling all the strings, it was no surprise when further increased their lead when Rory Kinney added number four for Northend.
In between this, Northend hit Ulidia's crossbar three times before the referee blue this whistle for half time.

Northend, playing their best football of the season came out in similar fashion for the second half. Man of the Match Rory Kinney further increased their lead when he scored five minutes after the restart to make the score 5-0 to Northend.
Ulidia had periods of pressure but found Matthew Kirk having a good game in the Northend defence. However from a breakaway, the Ulidia striker outpaced the Northend defender and coolly slid the ball past Dylan Little, in the Northend net.
Northend weren't finished yet and from a pass from a Northend defender, Ciaran Ferris skipped past his marker and crossed the ball for Ryan Kennedy to slide in at the back post to further increase the score to 7-1 to Northend.
This was a super team performance from Northend with a return to their trademark passing game.

Immaculata U15s 5  Northend United U15s 2                                                           Saturday 11th September 2010

For the second week running, Northend faced a league winning team from last year. This time it was the turn of Immaculata, who had won the Down and Connor League.
Northend started positively and began to play some good passing football. Conan Dunne and Ciaran Ferris were involved in a number of Northend attacks and Simon Cunningham was on hand to give Northend the lead when he got on the end of a cross, after five minutes.
Immaculata came back at Northend but the back four of Ryan Douds, Lee Kirk, Matthew Kirk and Declan McAfee soaked up all the pressure. Dylan little, in the Northend goals, was having a good game, dealing comfortably with whatever Immaculata threw at him.
However, Immaculata drew level midway through the half when their striker scored a good goal.  Northend conceded another goal on twenty minutes to make the score 2-1.
Northend continued to defend for the rest of the first half and were unlucky when Immaculata scored the decisive third goal just before half time leaving the score 3-1

Immaculata came out after the break and picked up where they left off and scored the fourth goal after fifteen minutes. Mark Robinson and David Freeburn replaced Douds and Hughes.
This goal now forced Northend to go and chase the game, leaving them exposed at the back. Matthew Kirk was having a good game at centre half but with constant pressure on the Northend goal, Immaculata score a fifth goal with ten minutes of the match remaining, when keeper Dylan little was beaten at his back post.
Northend heads didn't go down and a good attacking move lead to Ryan Kennedy scoring Northend's second goal to make the score 5-2 to Immaculata, just before full time.

Northend United U15's 0  Dungoyne U15's 5                                                                             Saturday 4th September 2010

An understrength Northend United travelled to last season's League Winners, Dungoyne, in their opening match in the South Belfast Youth League.

Missing a few regulars, this was always going to be an uphill task. Dungoyne started in fine form going into a 1-0 lead on ten minutes. The Northend defence of Ryan Douds, Lee Kirk, Matthew Kirk and Mark Robinson continued to soak up the Dungoyne pressure but were unlucky when Dungoyne scored a killer second goal just before half time.

The second half started in much the same way as the first, with the strong Dungoyne team taking the game to Northend. The Northend midfield of McAfee, Cunningham, Kennedy and Dunne were working hard against the Dungoyne midfielders, but the League Winners began to dominate play.

In a forgettable game, Dungoyne went on to score another three goals in the second half to leave the final score 5-0 to Dungoyne.
